A fun start to Christmas shopping in Broadway?!
If you need to get in the mood for Christmas, we can help!
There are two Late Night Christmas Shopping evenings every winter in Broadway, Worcestershire.
In 2024 they take place on Friday 29th November and Friday 6th December, officially from 5.30pm to 8.30pm. Individual shops/cafes/restaurants may extend their hours to later – depending on custom and to some extent weather.
The famous village lights will already be looking gorgeous and for these two special evenings there’ll be live music with festive foodie treats all along the High Street. Sizzling sausages will be served and you’ll be able to have cocktails mixed from a fairy-lit horse box!
The Lygon Arms’ courtyard and outside Russell’s Fish and Chips will be well worth exploring too. A marquee with choir will be up on the green, with Christmas decorations for sale and carol singing for everyone in the square alongside the Gordon Russell Design Museum. The lights everywhere twinkle gorgeously and front doors are welcoming with stylish festive wreaths.
Christmas shopping in Broadway style
This is a wonderful chance to start your Christmas shopping, perhaps finish it, whilst supporting local small businesses. The high quality of independent shops in the village is legendary and many of them stock inspired and unusual Christmas gifts. Some of these treasures may reflect the location too. Award-winning Cotswolds Gin or Whisky, perhaps?
Whether you’re shopping or not, it’s a good excuse to soak up some seasonal atmosphere, with a drink and a mince pie in one of the prettiest places around.
Practicalities for visiting
There will likely be heavy traffic on the roads into Broadway, so do allow time for this. All the public car parks are usually free of charge from 4pm, but they get very busy. The earlier you arrive the better if you’re driving.
There’s often a traditional double-decker bus service from the railway station/caravan park to the High Street and standard bus services run as usual. We’re really hoping that in future years GWSR will run a coordinated steam train service to Broadway Station.
To avoid transport complications, stay with us! You’ll be in the midst of the genteel action for the evening and able to pop in and out as you wish, with a great view of things from your own cosy windows. You won’t need to carry your shopping around with you either – just drop it off ‘at home’ whenever you like.
And then, as a dream within a dream, all will be back to peaceful normality the following morning, we promise. If you’ve forgotten to buy something seen in the shops however, you should still be able to track it down as you’ll wake up with the same shops on your doorstep on Saturday morning – along with great cafes for a big breakfast and strong coffee if needed.
